With so many possibilities of plants to grow in your garden, it can sometimes be challenging to choose. Don’t let all the choices overwhelm you, instead make a list of plants you are wanting to grow this year and prioritize. Remember, there is ALWAYS next year! Here are some tips to help you prioritize what to plant in your garden this year.

  • Don’t forget about edible things and herbs; they make an excellent addition to any landscape.
  • Don’t forget about our pollinators! Everyone should plant something for the critters.
  • Design your garden through the seasons. Organize your plants by season of harvest, or color.
  • Planting in odd numbers is an excellent trick.
  • Plant perennials as far apart as their eventual height, this is a general rule to fall back on, but not always perfect.
  • Consider watering needs of different plants when you group things.
