Growing Gardens stewards three farms across Boulder County. Our farm sites are places where people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities are invited to create deep connections with their food, the land and each other.

BOULDER, CO

1630 Hawthorn Avenue

The land that Growing Gardens operates on has been in agricultural use for the last 119 years. The Long Family has farmed and been the stewards of the 25-acre space during that time, and in 2019, the land gained protection under a conservation easement, preserving it for agricultural use. Since 1998, Growing Gardens has leased 11 acres for our programs and also contributes to the land’s stewardship. At this farm, you’ll find our Hawthorn Community Garden, Children’s Peace Garden, Growing Gardens Orchard, Pollinator Pavilion, Boulder Work Trade Program, Cultiva Youth Program, Weekly Farm Stand, volunteering opportunities, and CSA.

LONGMONT, CO

Food Project Farm on Lashley

A joint project of Growing Gardens and the YMCA of Northern Colorado, our 0.5-acre Food Project Farm was established to provide produce donations and gardening and nutrition-based education to the surrounding neighborhood. 90% of the food grown on this farm is donated to local partners and individuals. The remaining food is sold at a our weekly reduced-rate farm stand that is open every Thursday starting in the summer. At this farm you’ll find our Longmont Work Trade Program, Cultiva Youth Program, Weekly Farm Stand, volunteering, and CSA.

Food Project Farm on Pratt

New in 2023! A joint project of Growing Gardens and Bethlehem Lutheran Church, we’re excited to open up a second Food Project Farm at Pratt and 15th Street in Longmont. This farm will further increase access to fresh healthy produce for individuals living on low incomes. Over 5,000 lbs are grown and donated each year, through food banks like the OUR Center. We also provide events and educational opportunities to encourage connections between community members, their food and the land.

COMMUNITY GARDENS

Community Gardens

Growing Gardens started as an organization with the management of our Hawthorn Community Gardens located at our Boulder Farm. Since 1998, Growing Gardens has expanded this program, and we now operate 7 community garden spaces across Boulder County. The community gardens provide over 800 people in our community with space to grow their own food. Our generous community gardeners also contribute their extra produce and, on average, donate approximately 1,000 lbs of fresh produce to our Food Project annually.
